The New Coach House Hydrotherapy Extension

We built this beautiful home in 2014 for a family where one member has been left with life changing injuries due to issues involving medical negligence.  Their needs as a family are complicated and they required a fully accessible, yet aesthetically pleasing, home.

Nine years later we were thrilled to be called back to complete a further medical adaptation to their home including a hydrotherapy extension.

There are many benefits of hydrotherapy for a disabled person, a hydrotherapy pool uses warmer water 33-36° to support pain including physiotherapy.  The warmth of the water allows the muscles to relax and eases the pain in joints, helping a person to exercise.  The water can be used to provide resistance to moving the joints, by pushing arms and legs against the water it can also improve muscle strength.

PART OF THE JOURNEY

The design was a substantial extension to the house for a hydrotherapy pool, specialist bathroom, along with an accessible office for this family member to work in.  It included accessible features and products including a hoist system to enter and exit the pool and shower, a body dryer, automatic lights and door entrances, widened doorways, level flooring and raised work spaces to accommodate the use of a wheelchair.

We are very proud to be part of this journey with the family, working along-side them to accommodate their ever changing needs.

"Great to work with Barker Construction Group again. They have a fantastic team, and their workmanship is second to none. They are very approachable and the communication throughout the project was excellent. Time frames were realistic and the finished project was better than we anticipated. We have no hesitation in recommending Barker Construction Group for any project and will certainly be using them again.
